A little help

Answers to common questions about Little Red Box, and how to get in touch.

Last updated 14 October 2026

Playing

How do I hop?

Tap anywhere on the screen. Tap again while Box is in the air to double hop. With a keyboard, use Space, Up or W; with a controller, press A.

Can I lose?

No. There are no lives, timers or scores. If Box falls, he floats gently back to where he was.

What is wind down?

Wind down lets Box travel and hop by himself while the music softens, drifting through every world you have opened. Choose it on the title screen, or switch it on from the pause menu.

How do I open more worlds?

Finish a wander to open the next one. Finishing all three wanders in a world opens the next world on the world map.

What are sparks for?

Sparks buy hats, scarves, glasses and trails for Box in the Wardrobe on the title screen. They are only earned by playing and can never be bought.

Settings

Comfort and accessibility

Open Settings, then Comfort, to reduce motion (a steadier camera and softer flashes and tints), turn phone vibration on or off, or make the text and buttons larger.

Battery

Settings > General > Battery saver runs the game at 30 frames a second, either always or only in wind down. Lowering Graphics also helps on older phones.

Language

The game follows your device’s language and is available in English, French, German, Spanish and Japanese. Change it in Settings > General > Language.

Your progress

Can I play on my iPhone and iPad?

Yes. From version 1.1, progress syncs automatically between iPhone and iPad signed in to the same iCloud account. Finished wanders, book discoveries, sparks and wardrobe items from both devices are combined. Changes arrive when Box is at home or on a map; give iCloud a moment after playing on one device before picking up the other. Check it in Settings > General > iCloud save. Progress does not sync between Apple and Android devices.

Will my progress move to a new phone?

Yes. On iPhone and iPad it syncs through iCloud, and it is also included in iCloud Backup. On Android it is included in Android’s automatic backup to your Google account, so it returns when you restore or transfer from a backup.

Where are my photos?

On iPhone and iPad, open the Files app and look in On My iPhone (or iPad) > Little Red Box > photos. On a computer they are saved in your Pictures folder.
